Project Content
Toxoplasma is an obligate neurotropic pathogen that co-opts host pathways for its intracellular development. The parasite triggers extensive modulation of the host cell network to support its proliferation and differentiation in neuronal cells. Besides, neuronal cells also undergo subcellular reorganization in response to infection. We are interested in visualizing these alterations in the host cells and understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Tasks for Interns
The intern will work on the isolation and culture of primary neuronal cells and the adenoviral transduction of neurons with parasite-secreted effector proteins. A wide range of molecular biology and biochemical methods will be used.

Academic Level
Doctoral students (preferably in the second year or later)
Requirements
The candidate must be experienced with wet-lab research in molecular biology, preferably in the context of parasite infection. He or she must be able to work independently, possess excellent communication skills, and adapt quickly to a new environment.

Expected Preparation
The candidate must come prepared with an experimental and theoretical framework for the project.
