Project Content
Buddyhere is a Berlin-based start-up developing a web platform for university buddy programs and student communities. Our mission is to help students, particularly international students, build connections and settle into university life. The platform combines registration, profiles, matching suggestions, messaging, meetings and events. University coordinators can manage participants, communicate with their communities and generate reports in one place. We are also developing Larkup as an integrated AI module within Buddyhere, enabling users to ask questions about approved information from documents and videos. The core platform features have been implemented, while the AI module is at the MVP stage and undergoing internal testing.
Our priorities for Summer 2027 include improving the platform, developing student-facing communication and preparing events for the winter semester 2027/28. We also plan to investigate international markets and additional applications for Buddyhere.
Interns will work with our team on practical projects combining product development, student engagement and business development.
Tasks for Interns
The intern will support research into new markets and business-development opportunities for Buddyhere, including its integrated AI module. The work will cover selected EU and non-EU markets, including the United States and England. The final geographic focus and customer segments will be agreed with the team at the start.

Starting with universities and student-support programs, the intern will investigate customer needs, existing alternatives, pricing approaches, purchasing processes and potential barriers to adoption. They will also explore additional applications for Buddyhere, such as mentoring and onboarding in other organizations, as opportunities to be assessed rather than established business lines.

Tasks may include desk research, competitor comparisons, identifying relevant organizations and decision-makers, preparing interview questions, and supporting customer-discovery conversations. The intern may also help draft outreach messages, adapt presentation materials and organize a structured list of prospective customers.

Expected outputs include a comparative market overview, a prioritized shortlist of opportunities, customer profiles, and a practical go-to-market proposal. The emphasis is on evidence-based research and supervised sales support, not independent responsibility for closing contracts.

Subject areas and working fields:
  • Economics & Business (International market research, customer segmentation, competitor analysis and sales development.)
  • Entrepreneurship / Start-up Development (Go-to-market strategy, business model exploration and assessment of new growth opportunities.)

Academic Level
  • Advanced undergraduate students (from the third year)
  • Master’s students
  • Doctoral students

Requirements
We welcome third-year+ bachelor’s and master’s students in business, economics, international management, marketing or a related field.

The ideal candidate enjoys research, can compare information from different sources and can turn findings into clear recommendations. Good written and spoken English, confidence working with spreadsheets and presentations, and an interest in technology and international markets are important. Curiosity, attention to detail and a willingness to speak with potential customers are valuable.

Previous experience in market research, consulting or sales is welcome but not required. Relevant coursework and student projects are sufficient. German is not required.

Expected Preparation
Review Buddyhere’s website and become familiar with university buddy programs. Refresh basic concepts in customer segmentation, competitor analysis and customer-discovery interviews. The specific markets, research questions, and sources will be agreed upon during onboarding; no full market study is expected in advance.
