Public Engagement and Knowledge Exchange with Society

At the core of our responsibilities and goals at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is a close exchange between science and society to build bridges between the academic community and the public at local, regional, and international levels. Our aim is to research and tackle pressing societal issues together with civil society, culture, and politics, to learn from living knowledge and integrate experiences from society into research and teaching. Interested students have the opportunity to gain insights into the different approaches of a higher education and research institution to share knowledge and resources, to enable participatory research, and to inform and inspire partners and communities beyond campus borders.

Start-Ups and Entrepreneurship

Interested students have the opportunity to gain insights into university start-ups and the diversity of the Berlin start-up scene. The start-ups listed here are part of the start-up incubator at Humboldt Innovation and Science & Startups, which is the joint start-up service of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin, in partnership with Charité. The teams operate at the interface between science and business and are in the initial phase of setting up a company. In addition to the subject-specific tasks, interns have the opportunity to gain insights into how a scientific idea is turned into a marketable company.
