Eligibility

Humboldt Perspectives Study Abroad is open to international visiting students from all study areas who are enrolled in undergraduate degree programs at their home university. Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of application, and be able to provide proof of sufficient English proficiency for subject courses (B2).

Before registering, please consult your home university about the recognition criteria and procedure for your studies abroad and the amount of credits you must acquire during your time at Humboldt-Universität.

Steps to apply

  1. Browse our course catalog and select three, four, or five seminars. One of these courses can be a German language class. Participation in the accompanying intercultural training is an integral part of the program.
  2. Register now and complete the course selection form.
    After your registration and course selection, you will receive an email with further information about the next step.
  3. Submit the following required documents online as scanned documents:
    • Motivation letter for your participation in Humboldt Perspectives Study Abroad
    • Resume/CV
    • Proof of English proficiency (not required if English is your native language or language of instruction at your home university)
      The following tests are accepted as proof of English proficiency:
      • TOEFL IBT minimum 90 - at least 20 in each skill
      • TOEFL paper based test - minimum 580 - at least 50 in each skill
      • IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill
      • TOEIC minimum 685 in all skills
      • CEFR minimum C1
      • CET-4 (China) 550
      • CET-6 (China) 490
      • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English - grade C
      • Cambridge Advanced Certificate - grade B
      • Duolingo English Test (DET) minimum 105
    • Proof of identity (passport or ID card)
    • Valid Student ID
  4. Once you are admitted, you will receive an email with payment instructions, and practical information for your stay in Berlin.
